Chips were served with pretty much everything in our house as a way of our mother to get some carbs into us, quicker than rice and pasta, and much more edible, our fried eggs were always shallow fried in lard, the lard lived in the frying pan on top of the hob perpetually ready for the next egg victim to be burned on the bottom, the first thing I ever cooked in my life was an egg in 1982, shallow fried in lard, I sprinkled some curry powder to sex it up.
