In the late 80s my mother discovered a van selling knock-off out of date Peters Savoury Products in the back corner of Pandy Market (the van was not refrigerated) I think they cost 5 items for a £1, mostly served with beans, it was an easy microwave meal full of nutrition, sometimes you were lucky enough to discover a little meat in the pasties. It seems odd to think that pasties, sausage rolls and pies were a black market product  - but actually going through the 'Cost of Living Crisis' in the UK at the moment makes it all the more poignant.
